On March 30, the Global Fund Board unanimously elected Norbert Hauser of Germany as Board Chair and Aida Kurtovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina as Vice Chair.
Brian Brink of the Private Sector Board constituency introduced Norbert as the consensus candidate of the Donor Bloc. Norbert served as Vice President of the Bundesrechnungshof/Supreme Audit Institution of Germany until 2011. He was a member of the High-Level Independent Review Panel on Fiduciary Controls and Oversight Mechanisms of the Global Fund. He served as Interim Inspector General for the Global Fund.
Loretta Wong of the Developing Country NGO constituency introduced Aida as the consensus candidate of the Implementer Bloc. Aida is the Executive Director of Partnerstvo za zdravlje/Partnerships in Health. She has been serving as the Vice-Chair of the Implementer Group from 2012-14, and has been the Global Fund Board Member for the Eastern Europe Central Asia constituency since 2012 and member of the Global Fund Strategy, Investment, and Impact Committee (SIIC) Member for that constituency since last year.
